Today I will be again shaking and trembling before my so-called "hard to please audiences" .....the evaluator would be again saying out of motivation that you looked amazingly confident as they said last time when I could feel that every fiber of my body was vibrating like the string of a guitar....but when you fail you succeed ,I am ready to fail again with my new speech. here goes my speech....
How often do you look in the mirror and say that if I could loose a few more kilograms I would look perfect. Its not unusual becoz we believe that "First impression is the cornerstone of lasting impression, and its no wonder we all try to acheive perfect look.
Perception of beauty changes from place to place, person to person and then I almost started beliving that "beauty lies in the eyes of beholder" but sometimes that eye see only superficially and lands up with different conception.I remember once I pitied with one of my female colleague saying,"hey you look thinner than I saw you last time and she just responded with big smile and only two words "thank you".She misunderstood me ,in fact most of the women do misunderstand such concerns.
Not only women but all at one stage of our lives admit to being dissatisfied with our body shape or appearance and then we don't bother about "concerns".
However the controversial question remains WHY? why are we so obssessed with our body shape, why we feel ashamed of our bodies, why we diet ourselves almost to death and how did the society taught us to measure beauty by some external facotrs like numbers on a scale.
Lets just say that you asked your lady friend to pick up some magazines, let it be consmopolitan, cleo ,dolly or girlfriend..what do they see ...A size 6 supermodel with absolutely no wrinkles,no pimples,no cellulite and no scars and then they start comparing themselves to these models portrayed successful in the media and then they feel so insecure about themselves that they don't mind trying diets which poses serious health risks,a nearly fatal surgery and some cases starve severely even to death. They repeatedly try to reverse those "so-called faults",but do you think that they are happy with themselves? All these to measure upto the image of beauty portrayed by the media and no matter how much they try they will never be happy with themselves. So why is the media so bent on making us feel to look down upon ourselves.
Well the answer is simple pure ECONOMICS.
To be continued.......
